Milestones May 24, 2006

I feel kinda bad because Abby isn't progressing mentally as I would like her to. Maybe it's just me being a worry wart, or maybe it's Abby asserting her new-found independance 😛 But anyhow, she just doesn't want to see to play with her toys anymore. The only thing she does with them now is walk around with them or throw them across the room. Her favourite thing to do recently is to put cloths or blankets over her face and play 'peekaboo' with them. It's pretty cute because she gets this big goofy grin on her face. She's getting really good at the walking though, before long she'll be running away from me. Abby already giggles at the top of her lungs when I catch her trying to get away from me…she's such a cutie 😀

Her hair is also long enough now to put into pigtails, it just adds to her cuteness. We went to the grocery store yesterday as I needed to pick up cat food and some fruit for her. We got to the produce section and I held up two fruits. I asked Abby which one she wanted- the banana or the pear. She pointed at the pear…she's getting to understand what I'm talking about. She's really coming into her own little person, yay! 😀

The Great Outdoors May 22, 2006

I've been getting outside a lot more frequently recently with Abby. The weather around her has been really kind to us, so I've been taking her to the park. She likes the swings and the floor at the park is this bizarre spongy material. Weird, but wayyy better than wood chips. I lost count of how many splinters I used to get from those 😦 

I came into some luck this weekend. My neighbours were having a rummage sale, and I picked up some cute summer clothes for Abby, a new toy (Fisher Price Little People Zoo Playset) and an umbrella stroller. The stroller is nice, because it's so small and compact for just nipping out to the shops with her..and it means that I don't have to take the big stroller with me (it's nice, but it's so cumbersome). I do miss the fact that I can't put the diaper bag underneath, but I think I can live without that 😛

My parents are coming into town on June 20th, so I'm getting pretty excited about that. My brother is tagging along with them, and I've not seen him since 2004- so I get to hang out with him for two weeks. Yippee!! 😀 There's so many things I want to show him- I'm not too sure how I'm going to fit it all into two weeks! LOL!! 😀

Mothers Day 2006 May 15, 2006

My second Mothers Day. I actually enjoyed this one a little more, because Abby was more responsive and actually gave me a kiss on my cheek (even if it was wet and sloppy) 😛 We went out for dinner with Nick's mom and sister…and Nick paid for everything, aww I love having a husband like that 😀 I had the Shrimp Capallini and it was good, but the shrimp was a little bit over cooked. Ah well, the dessert made up for it (Baileys Cheesecake). I felt like I was going to puke for the rest of the evening…I think I stuffed my belly too full…oops! 😛

I got a lovely card and a half dozen yellow roses from Nick, and a card and a photo album of Abby over the last year from his family. It was a nice day. Then we came back home, changed into our PJ's and sat around watching TV for the rest of the evening 😀 

Two Days? May 13, 2006

I feel like I've been on a desert island the last couple of days. Having no internet connection/power really bites when you really want to do something on there 😦 Firstly, we had a bad storm on Thursday and it knocked our power out. Then on Friday it came back on but then the wind blew our utility pole down outside our house, so it went out again, along with the phone and the cable. Bugger 😦

But I've got everything back this evening. At least I've been blessed with the time to actually get other stuff done, like getting the bathroom finally cleaned and get up to date with washing the dishes (there was a huge pile sitting on top of the fridge). I didn't want to be doing any housework tomorrow on Mother's Day, so now it's all up to date 😀

I had my hair cut this evening. It looks pretty good. I didn't want to go out for dinner tomorrow evening and my hair be looking a mess :-p

Abby's finally walking! Woohoo! Still no teeth though 😦

I just counted all the money in my change jar and I have $25 😀 I now have the cash for the CD's I want to buy 😀

My parents have finally given me a date they are going to be coming out to see us- June 20th to July 4th. That means they won't see the fireworks…but at least we can go out for lunch or something that day 😀 And my brother is coming too! Yay! 😀

I've been so tired recently, I have no clue what is wrong with me 😦 I got up this morning around 9ish and got Abby up after she woke up twice with teething problems. My poor little girl, I really wish I could break those teeth through for her…she's having a tough time with it all (yup, still no teeth yet 😦 ) Luckily, her sleep problems have vanished again. Sure, she bounces up and down in her crib when we put her down for sleep and starts throwing her toys out…but I've discovered that if I just leave her in her crib- she settles down eventually. My mum told me that it's not a good thing if you attend to their every beck and call..it makes them realise that they can wake up anytime of the night and you'll come running. I am truly glad that I learned that lesson a while ago, I would be up five times a night with her otherwise 😦 I only have to get up about once a night now, give her some tylenol and rub some baby orajel on her gums…and she goes straight back to sleep. I guess I'm lucky 😀

I still have a ton of housework to do, so I have to get onto that. Yeah, I know it's early in the morning…I barely sleep and get by on about five/four hours a night. I'm used to it now. If I was to just sit in front of the TV, I'd soon fall asleep. So I keep myself busy (housework, playing on the GameBoy, baking..etc) 

My new discovery of the day, Renuzit air freshners from Walmart. $1 a pop and they work great (the main thing is they get rid of the stench of diapers in Abby's room and the stench that J leaves in the bathroom…lol :-P)

Disaster! May 1, 2006

So me and J went out and bought all this food and…barely anyone showed up to out shindig last night 😦 Nicki and Brian, and the downstairs neighbour, Noah. What a crappy party. The kitchen floor is all covered in dirty wet footprints from last night, so I'm gonna clean that in a while. I was so thirsty from all the alcohol I drank last night (two double vodkas and lemonade, and three PBR's), I needed to get up and drink something (so it was a can of coke- sue me 😛 ). I also gave something to Abby for a drink and some Cheerios. I'm still kinda tired, so I'm gonna go back to bed for a couple of hours 😀
