Pirates and Beaches July 1, 2006

We went to the beach today. Abby got to tryon her new swimsuit for the first time this year, she looked cute in it. Doesn’t like the lake much though. I don’t think it was the temperature, she just started crying when the waves were washing over her little feet. That’s another thing to add to my ‘things Abby is scared of’ list. Pah :-P

And good news! I have my purse back! Complete with passport, iPod, house keys, one dead cellphone (that I now have to return to the insurance company) and a wad of cash! That was a nice surprise…I had $15 in there! I’ve been thinking about all evening what I could spend that on….after going through so much stress recently with my parents stressing me out and then losing my purse…I deserve something very nice indeed. Of course, I can’t buy much with $15, I just fancy something like a nice photoframe or maybe a $15 iTunes card for some new toons. Hmm…..*puts on thinking cap*

Anyhoo, have to get t bed. Footie is on in the morning and we have to be at BBC for 10 am. I am going to have to kick my brother to get him out of bed :-P

And now comes the Pirates part. I cannot wait until POTC2. So I made a new wallpaper. Feel free to use it ;)

Fat Tories….oops I mean Factories June 29, 2006

Ha. I screwed up my title on purpose, because I’m an idiot :-P

We ended up touring the Harley plant and the Miller complex today with my parents, Steve and Nick’s grandpa. Because my stupid passport is missing at the moment, they wouldn’t give me a funky lime green wristband :( So I was stealing beer sips at the beer garden afterwards. I felt like I was 16 again. Being asked for ID everywhere to prove you’re over the age of 21 rocks. I never thought I’d say that. Ever.

Talking about the passport issue, I got a call today from the place where I last saw my bag. It supposdly had been handed in to a person who works there and they’ve had it in their office for a week. So tomorrow, I have to go to their office to see if it’s my bag. I replaced my house keys and my cellphone. And it would be really nice to see my iPod again (since I cannot pull $300 out of my ass for a new one). But the thing I really want is my passport. I do not fancy having to go through all the bullshit with immigration to get a new one with a new visa inside. So, fingers crossed :)

Steve ordered pizza tonight from Pizza Skuttle and it’s good but I’ve eaten too much salad today and drank too much beer. Yes, I am aware of the fact that the beer cancels out the healthiness of the salad :-P

Mommy Friends June 28, 2006

Filed under: General Life, Parenting — countryfan @ 9:28 pm

I seriously wish that I had some mommy friends I could hang out with. There’s Jennie, but she lives too far away. And then there’s Jill who’s due in September, but no baby yet. Then there’s Sarah who lives in Ireland. I just get sick of sitting on my tukcus all day with Abby. I go to the park, and I see other moms there but nobody really my age. I have Rhonda who I ask for advice, but she’s my mom’s age and she has grandkids.

Sigh. I hate living in an area where I don’t really know anyone my age. Everyone with kids round here is older than me :(

Argh… June 26, 2006

Filed under: General Life — countryfan @ 6:02 pm

My parents suck. Yes, I am aware that I just said that :p It’s days like this when I realise why I don’t live wit them anymore. They drive me CRAZY. For example:

Mum: Do you have any headache tablets?

Me: Yes (said in my usually snarky way)

Mum: Well, go get me some them

Me: I am trying to use the computer. They’re in the cupboard

Mum: Don’t be so lazy and go and get them me

Sigh. I seriously cannot do what I want when I want at the moment. Like last night. I was feeling pretty horny and unfortunately my brother was sleeping in the next room.

And now my mother is trying to read over my shoulder while I’m typing this entry. Argh. I feel like I’m 14 and I have no privacy again :(

Buggery June 24, 2006

I am officially an idiot :-P

We went out for dinner with my parents this evening and it was really nice and everything and I think I might have left my bag at the restaurant :( It wouldn't be too bad if all I had in there was my cellphone and a bit of cash…but it has my British passport in it and that's the only form of ID I have until immigration get my new green card to me (I had my last one stolen :( ) I was going to take my brother out on Sunday to watch the football, but if the restaurant isn't open again until next week- I am truly screwed :(

On the upside, we all went rummage sale hunting today. I think my parents actually enjoyed it. I got a bunch of clothes for Abby, a portable changing pad so I don't have to haul the diaper bag around all the time and a big plastic box full of Duplo bricks (which was my bargain of the day as it only cost me $2) My mum also picked up a Milwaukee Brewers fleece blanket and a really nice quilt that had ducks on it. I'm hoping to catch some more next weekend. We went out into the subdivisions and the 'burbs….I always find teh best bargains there :-D

So tired… June 14, 2006

Filed under: General Life — countryfan @ 3:35 am

I wanted to go to bed about two hours ago, but this stupid anti-virus program is still scanning the hard drive and Nick will get mad if I just let it run and go to bed :(

And the worst thing is that I know that Abby will be awake in six hours :(

It’s been a while… June 13, 2006

We didn’t have the internet for the last few weeks :(

Abby is now walking very good, still has no teeth :( but can say a few words now! She says “giggle”, “wiggle”, “tickle”, “yay”, “hey”, “hi”, “yummy”, “nummy”, “yum”, “mmm”, “mommy”, “daddy”, “ow” and “no”…as well as the usual “mama” and “dada”. So I’m pretty impressed. She also figured out recently how to take all her clothes off (including the diaper)- which is annoying when it’s a cooler evening and they still wake up in the morning butt naked :( I didn’t think that kids could figure out half this stuff till they were a few months older. Maybe we have a smart toddler on our hands? Heheh :)

My parents and my brother Steve will be here in a week! Cannot wait to see them, especially my brother. They’re bringing some food goodies and also some World Cup goodies (I asked for a mini kids-sized England shirt for Abby :) )

Milestones May 24, 2006

I feel kinda bad because Abby isn't progressing mentally as I would like her to. Maybe it's just me being a worry wart, or maybe it's Abby asserting her new-found independance :-P But anyhow, she just doesn't want to see to play with her toys anymore. The only thing she does with them now is walk around with them or throw them across the room. Her favourite thing to do recently is to put cloths or blankets over her face and play 'peekaboo' with them. It's pretty cute because she gets this big goofy grin on her face. She's getting really good at the walking though, before long she'll be running away from me. Abby already giggles at the top of her lungs when I catch her trying to get away from me…she's such a cutie :D

Her hair is also long enough now to put into pigtails, it just adds to her cuteness. We went to the grocery store yesterday as I needed to pick up cat food and some fruit for her. We got to the produce section and I held up two fruits. I asked Abby which one she wanted- the banana or the pear. She pointed at the pear…she's getting to understand what I'm talking about. She's really coming into her own little person, yay! :D

The Great Outdoors May 22, 2006

Filed under: General Life — countryfan @ 10:49 pm

I've been getting outside a lot more frequently recently with Abby. The weather around her has been really kind to us, so I've been taking her to the park. She likes the swings and the floor at the park is this bizarre spongy material. Weird, but wayyy better than wood chips. I lost count of how many splinters I used to get from those :(

I came into some luck this weekend. My neighbours were having a rummage sale, and I picked up some cute summer clothes for Abby, a new toy (Fisher Price Little People Zoo Playset) and an umbrella stroller. The stroller is nice, because it's so small and compact for just nipping out to the shops with her..and it means that I don't have to take the big stroller with me (it's nice, but it's so cumbersome). I do miss the fact that I can't put the diaper bag underneath, but I think I can live without that :-P

My parents are coming into town on June 20th, so I'm getting pretty excited about that. My brother is tagging along with them, and I've not seen him since 2004- so I get to hang out with him for two weeks. Yippee!! :D There's so many things I want to show him- I'm not too sure how I'm going to fit it all into two weeks! LOL!! :D
